Sound Festival Scotland

BDRS is supporting Sound Festival, an annual festival in North East Scotland which aims to highlight contemporary music. This year it runs from 23rd of October until 3rd of November 2019 and you can find out more here Sound Scotland

This year the event will showcase the oboe, as part of its focus on “endangered instruments”, with performances from notable instrumentalists Christopher Redgate and Nicholas Daniel.  Quoting the Sound Festival website “Performing on the revolutionary Howarth-Redgate oboe, Christopher Redgate reinvents the oboe and deconstructs its traditional sound world in a number of performances including a thrilling concert with Quatuor Diotima, one of the most in-demand string quartets in the world today (Thu 24 Oct). Nicholas Daniel continues to showcase the oboe in a number of concerts including a portrait concert of work by John Casken (Thu 31 Oct) with the Fidelio Trio in association with the University of Aberdeen, and a ‘European’ performance of sound patron Sir James MacMillan’s Intercession for 3 Oboes with Dutch oboist Oliver Boekhoorn and French oboist Jean-Pierre Arnaud (Sat 2 Nov).”
