New Digital Music Library for the BDRS

We are enormously grateful to both Jenny Porcas (widow of the late Roger Lord) and renowned Israeli bassoonist Mordechai Rechtman for their generosity in allowing us to host some attractive new repertoire for double reeds for all to download and use, free-of-charge. We hope to add to this online library as time goes on, so if there is anything you’d like to see here, or indeed offer, please get in touch!

The music (which includes arrangements of Bach Organ Works for chamber ensemble, as well as Roger Lord’s compositions and arrangements) can be accessed here.

Jenny Porcas writes:

“Greetings fellow musicians! Thanks to the generosity of the BDRS in hosting this collection, I am delighted to be able to

Roger Lord

share compositions and arrangements for double reed instruments by my late husband Roger Lord (a former principal oboist of the LSO).

“Please investigate, download, and print for yourselves whatever takes your fancy. I hope you enjoy playing this music as much as we did. I’d be pleased to hear from you, especially if you intend to include one of Roger’s pieces in a concert programme.

“All of this music was written for Liz Jacoby, Gill Carter, and me, who were a regular and active professional oboe trio (‘Three Reeds’), for many years. We performed all these pieces on many occasions to enthusiastic audiences. Roger was pleased to sometimes include a proper bass line, hence the quartets. Performing these was straightforward for us as Liz was not only a fine oboe player but also an accomplished bassoonist, so she moved along, and Roger joined us playing cor anglais for quartets.

“Roger also composed a Magnificat, Nunc Dimittis, and Easter anthem for SATB choir with a trio of oboe, oboe d’amore, and cor anglais. These are not included here, but I’d be pleased to send PDF files to anyone who is interested.”
