This event will take place at:
Leicester Museum & Art Gallery, 53 New Walk, Leicester LE1 7EA
Sunday 18th September 2022
This event is for oboists and bassoonists and includes a recital of double reed music which may also appeal to composers and to the general concert-going public. Depending on your interest, you may apply for the whole event or purchase a recital-only ticket.
The recital will take place 14:30 – 15:30 and will exhibit a wide variety of double reed music performed by the featured artists: Nicholas Daniel (oboe), Henry Clay (oboe and cor anglais), and Ashley Myall (bassoon and contrabassoon), and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Double Reed Ensemble. The programme will include **world premieres** of the works commissioned from the winners of the two oboe prizes in the 2021 BDRS Composition Competition – Beak and Worm by Robin Haigh (played by Nicholas Daniel) and Embers by Pernille Faye, performed by Henry Clay on solo cor anglais.
Nicholas Daniel and Ashley Myall will also perform Joseph Fiala’s Duo Concertante for oboe and bassoon, with Ashley playing Francis Chagrin’s wonderful Deux Pièces for solo bassoon and Ulpirra (orignally for solo oboe), by composer Ross Edwards.
**FULL-DAY APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED, BUT RECITAL-ONLY TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE – DON’T MISS OUT!**
As well as the recital, there will be performance classes with Nicholas Daniel and Ashley Myall. You can also discover a wide range of instruments and accessories on offer at the trade stands.
