Double Reed Rescue @ Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

Double Reed Rescue is an initiative in recognition of the fewer numbers taking up Double Reed instruments and the critical challenges faced in providing sustainable Double Reed teaching provision in Scotland.

With this in mind, the RCS Woodwind Department sought funding to work with like-minded teachers and performers to help find innovative solutions to these challenges.

Double Reed Rescue has been given an RCS Athenaeum Engagement Award to offer:

• Practical workshops for Woodwind Instructors
• Online Double Reed SOS Clinics
• Digital Teaching Resources
• Come and Play Sessions for young Double Reed players
• Double Reed Day offering practical sessions for participants, working alongside top artists.

Thank you to Jennifer Stephenson for driving this important initiative, Woodwind instructors across Scotland who have given their time and expertise to help identify the goals and desired outcomes, and our Athenaeum Award Engagement Partner, the British Double Reed Society, whose support enables the initiative to be fully-realised.

If you would like to know more about participating in our Double Reed Rescue events, please contact j.stephenson@rcs.ac.uk.
